I'm in Holiday Crafts Magazine! Woot!

Yeay, it's here! The Better Homes and Gardens "Holiday Crafts" magazine is out on newsstands now!
The cabinet door that I painted for Terrye French's "Painting With Friends," is on page 21. It has all the instructions on page 32 and, the pattern in the middle, of course. :) There are lots of other terrific crafts for the Holidays, too! I love the paper
houses!

This is the original piece. I had already
sold it on Etsy.I painted
a second one to send to BHandG.

We ran across the magazine quite by accident, as we were checking out at Wal Mart. Hubby saw it first. (Thank you, dear!) I had to buy at least 5 copies!  I was so excited that I had to show it to the cashier and the lady in line behind us! LoL!

In case you'd rather buy the e-pattern directly, and INstantly start painting, just head on over to the Painting With Friends site, OR my Etsy shop... Oakleaf Hollow Primitives.

I want to send a BIG Thank-You to Terrye French and the Painting With Friends Folks....also the sweet ladies over at Holiday Crafts magazine who helped me through the whole process!

I am still on Cloud 9!!
Hugs to all!

Wood Turned Ornies

Hello!
Hope everyone is having fun getting ready for Christmas and the Holiday Season!
Just have a cup of hot cocoa and relax a while!
You deserve a break!
Thought I'd post some before and after pics of the ornaments I've been painting.
These are unfinished wood turned ornies that I bought at Hobby Lobby last year.
Yes, it takes me that long to get things finished! LoL!
Y'all know how it is!
I bought about 15 of them. Have 4 done so far! Yikes, I'm slow!

I painted a Prim snow scene on each one. Then went all out with the Diamond Dust glitter! I love that stuff! So sparkley!
They're done in blues and teals.
I plan on listing these and more in my Etsy shop over the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!
Oh, I hope you like my new Blog Design! My daughter fixed it up for me.
She's still working on the background. :)

Have a great weekend!

Bottlecaps!

I am in a recycling mood! Here's a few of the bottlecap magnets and ornies that I just finished. They are SUPER-easy to make and I really enjoyed all the glueing and glittering....kinda like being back in grade school!
Hung a few on a 2 ft. tree in my craft room.

Close up view of the ornie.
The vintage Santa images are from Deena at
She is having a sale on some of the bottlecap images now!!
I used a rusty tin snowflake for the back. I left off the trim around the edges as it hid the snowflake.

An assortment of magnets!
I've collected trims of all sorts for quite a while, so I just played around and tried to make them all a little different.

I used crepe paper to make the ruffled backs. I started out by sewing and gathering....BUT.....this proved to be very time consuming! I ended up just gathering the crepe paper accordion style, and then tied it in the middle with string, and fanned it out.
This was lots easier!!

I love the old tinsel look. Bought this trim at Hobby Lobby in the Mini-Tree section.
I used Glamour Dust and Glass Glitter for the sparkle!!

Hard to see, but they look so pretty with the glitter!
Hope that you've enjoyed these.
If anyone has some bottlecap ideas and tips to share, would love it if you'd post a comment ! :)

Next time I hope to show you some cones that I'm doing!

Hope everyone is having a good week!

My New Handpainted Items!

Here's what I've been working on recently. A couple are repeats from another post. All my shows are over for this season, so I'm painting softballs all weekend!! :) FUN and relaxing!
Hope you like these items! I have them listed on Etsy.
Oh, I have yet to finish those bottlecap magnets! Stay tuned!

Freshly Painted...

I'm getting ready for a show in 5 days. Here's some items that are *almost* finished. Haven't sealed them yet.
I think my old reliable camera is about kaput. The color is off (too yellow)even after I tried to fix it.

The Holiday Angel Tray is my favorite. I plan to put a coat of Briwax on it.

These skinny Santa boards need lots more detail! Suggestions welcome!! :) I want to add a tag tied with cheesecloth at the top, and a rusty snowflake, and some wording! But what wording??

I am pretty happy with this Sugar Mold. These are all Terry French designs!! I think some nice glass votives and candles will look great in it!!

Thanks for looking! Please leave me comments, and suggestions are heartily WELCOME!!

PS...I'm attempting to make some vintage bottlecap magnets! Will show pics when I've completed a few. The glueing part is a mess! Whew!

New items on Etsy!

Wahoo! I managed to get a few softballs and baseballs painted for Etsy! Here's 2 or 3 photos of them. The first two are new designs by Terrye French! Click on the photos to go to the Etsy listing.

My Lazy Susan-step-by-step

I finished this Lazy Susan about 3 am this morning. Z-z-z-z-zz-zzzzz...I am half asleep! I took some photos of the process. Thought y'all might like to see.
This is the unpainted piece. It's a very heavy, well made, composite wood. A flea market treasure!

Here's the bottom of it. No markings on it except for that # 6 or 9??

I basecoated it in black. I always do at least 2-3 coats.

After adding the main designs, I used a candle to wax the spots where I want the paint to look chippy.

Adding more details after baseing in the designs.

A closeup of the crow pull toy.

Another closeup of the pumpkin pull toy! I love these Terrye French designs!!

Here's the finished lazy susan! This will be so cute as a table centerpiece with a bowl of candy in it, a floral arrangement, or maybe a bowl of sweet smelling prim fixens!

Hope you enjoyed seeing the run-through! This item is for sale on Etsy. It's OOAK!

Slow going with painting projects!

I am needing to get some things painted, but it's been very slow going lately. In a bit of a rut, I think... or just plain tired! These are of few of the recycled softballs and baseballs that I've been trying to finish for a couple weeks now! Eeek! That's a long time! Maybe by posting this *before* photo, it will get me motivated.

Oh, the little tin pocket at the bottom right of the photo....I found a bunch of them at a local discount store for ch-e-e-ep!! They just need a good Fall makeover. Cute for Christmas ornies, too!

The Etsy OFG Team will be kicking off their Halloween promo in a couple days, and I will have my project completed for that. I will post more on it later. It will be lots of fun , so stay tuned!
