Back to blogging and U2 concert!

Oh my gosh, is it really October? Ummm, wait, it's almost November!!

I hope that my blog slump is over. Stuff just happens, I guess.

I plan to post/paint/twitter, and whatever else, more often.

To start things off, here's some photos from the U2 concert in Norman, Oklahoma last Sunday. This GIANT "spaceship" was bigger than OU Stadium! It was amazing! Over to the left is the OU jumbo screen, which was tiny compared to the stage setup. When it got dark, the "Claw" came alive! :)

That honeycomb thingy in the middle would raise and lower to make the screen bigger.

Lots of colors! :)

A "blue" song...LoL!

It was great fun! The Blackeyed Peas were the opening act. I was surprised that I really liked their performance, too.

While in Oklahoma, we stopped at "Country Collections by Hart" shop in Moore! It's a painter/crafters' dream! I was in heaven! Will tell ya' more later!

Hello all! Happy Sunday!

I scanned a few images for you to use on blogs or for mixed media.

These are from a 1975 Imperial Sugar Cookbook, that was revised from a 1915 Cookbook! I love the cover especially.

There's some nice titles inside, too.

Take out the lettering and insert your own for blog buttons, etc.

I tried to fix them a bit with PSP, but I'm a novice when it comes to that program.

to save to your computer.
I could see this as a background.

I can see this in a mixed media piece.

I've found my newest passion!

A Wacom Pen Tablet! DD has had one for quite a while and let me borrow it.

It takes some getting used to.

Kind of like using a dry erase board, only you look at the screen while *sketching* on the tablet.

Here's what we came up with.

I drew the owl, and she did the color and animation.

I have yet to figure all that out!

I am SO excited to do some more drawings!

I'd like to try and make some freebies soon, so check back!

What a HOOT!

Owls seem to be all the rage right now. I've loved them for a long time.

I drew my first owl back in the early 70s. I'd just started work at the telephone company. They needed a *volunteer* to make a poster for the safety committee. So, *Be Safety Wise* became my theme. My boss liked it so much that she had a photo of me with my poster taken for the Bell Newsletter. So it was an owl that started my art career at MaBell.

This great Cast Iron Vintage Owl Bank was used to advertise Wards Riverside, a tire company. I may list him in my Etsy Vintage shop later.

I painted this owl with pen and ink on glass back in 83. It's done in reverse on the inside of the glass. The background is fabric. The pic is a little pink, but that's my old camera! This was from a class by Suzy Stosberg of Suzys Tole Shop. I sure miss that shop!

The *CUTE* Beatle at 67!

Maybe, *WOW* is a good way to express it!

Need I say more?

Sir Paul was THE best concert event that we've ever been to ever imho!

This is the 1 year anniversary of the BOK Center in Tulsa. It's a great venue...holds 18,500. Perfect size!

Paul was there to celebrate it, but more importantly it was a celebration of 45 years from this music legend!

We were 8 rows up right at the side of the stage.


Paul joked with the audience in his usual adorable "Beatle" style. I don't think he's changed much since those days. Except now, he has 3 hours worth of hits to sing. That didn't even begin cover all the list of great songs.

The name of his band now is The Firemen! They are awesome!

The piano was on our side, so his back was to us when he played.

We could still see well when he turned around, tho.
Of course, I was so dang excited to see him turn around....

We will hopefully see him again!

I am SO looking forward to tomorrow night!

Yes, it's McCartney!!
I was 12 when my Grandmother bought me my 1st 45 Beatle record!
I screamed like crazy during "A Hard Days Night."
I would wear my Beatle hat and shirt everywhere.
Boy, did I think I was Cool! ;]

I still have my Beatle doll of Paul.

Wouldn't sell it for anything!

Now he's a Fireman!

They were such a major part of my teens!!

Now, I will finally get to see Sir Paul sing all my favorites!

Flea Market Friday

Hello All!

Here's a few items that I'm listing on Etsy today and thru the weekend.

This teapot is by Arthur Wood. He produced pottery in England around the early 1900's. It's so pretty in person!

Gotta get the old glass doorknobs out! :) I don't know much about them except that I really like 'em! They look great as architectural accents.

This is a little tin cup with a circus theme. It has an elephant, a clown, and a horse and cart around the sides. I always wonder who may have used stuff like this and where they lived.

These glasses are pretty neat! I remember going to Hardees back in the 70s when they had the larger sizes with a hamburger. :) We collected them all. DH sold them years ago, and of course now, he wishes we had them back.

Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam are the 8 oz. size
from 1976. The Grandbaby has a couple favorites that we kept just for her. Perfect for little kids to drink their milk! There's a character at the bottom of the glass when you've finished.

We are off to celebrate a Birthday with our now 25 year old.

Bargains Galore on 64!

If you love junkin', it's the place to be this week.

Bargains Galore on 64!

It's 160 miles of yard sales, antiques and collectibles, along highway 64, from Fort Smith to Beebe, Arkansas. Highway 64 parallels I-40 in Arkansas. People come from all over the country to search for hidden treasures, long forgotten from Grandmas attic. There's lots of plain ol' bargains to be had for everybody's taste.

The top 3 photos are from War Eagle, just to give you an idea of our wares. Everything from crocks, kitchenware, and tinware, to figurines and McCoy pottery.

I love the old straw hats and the green "hat lady!"

We leave the marbles at home! :)

This is the day before it started in 2007, setting up with our big tent. The area that we were in had about 50 vendors all in one place. That's the back of our booth to the right. There are individual booths all along the highway.

Hubby is so dedicated to his passion for antiques...
in 06, he'd just gotten out of the hospital the week before, from having an angioplasty!
We made it through just fine, with lots of attention to staying cool, and not overdoing it.


We used to have 3 smaller tents. They were the easy, pop-up kind. Happy to be down to ONE now, but we still have to read the instructions each time! Lots of pipes and poles to put together!

This year we will be in a new spot, in front of my niece's home!
It will be so handy to go in and rest and cool off
if we need to.
Looks like the temps will be forgiving, too. Supposed to be low 90's and low humidity! Yeay! Much better than the 106 degrees from past years!

If you're near Arkansas this week, be sure and travel Highway 64! You don't want to miss it!
